Permanent hair removal,
designed with care, clarity,
and respect.

What is gender affirming care?

Gender affirming care is personal care designed to help people feel more comfortable, confident, and aligned with their identity and body. For many transgender and gender diverse individuals, hair removal can be an important part of that process — whether for confidence, daily comfort, self expression, or surgical preparation.

For many transgender women, hormonal changes can lead to thicker or darker hair growth in unwanted areas, making personalized care essential. For transgender men, testosterone therapy can cause new or increased hair growth in various areas of the body, which laser hair removal and electrolysis can help address.

At Luma Laser & Electrolysis, we tailor every treatment to your unique skin type, hair type, goals, and transition journey. Whether someone is seeking facial hair removal, beard reduction, body hair reduction, electrolysis for surgical preparation, or long-term permanent hair removal, every treatment is approached with care, discretion, and respect.

We’re committed to creating a safe, affirming environment where clients feel seen, comfortable, and supported throughout the process.

More than aesthetic.

Laser hair removal and electrolysis
offers a range of benefits for trans men and women,
both aesthetic and emotional.
It’s more than just a beauty treatment —
it’s an empowering
step in aligning your appearance with your identity.

Increased Confidence

Many transgender individuals share that they feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin after completing their treatments.

Long-Term Savings

Compared to temporary methods like shaving or waxing, laser hair removal is a cost-effective, long-term solution that saves both time and money.

Healthier Skin

Reducing the need for daily shaving helps prevent irritation, razor burn, and ingrown hairs — leaving your skin softer and healthier.

Surgical Preparation

Laser hair removal and electrolysis is often recommended before procedures like vaginoplasty or phalloplasty, as it minimizes hair growth in surgical areas and supports better outcomes.

The Process

How it works.

01
Free Consultation

We start with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to understand your goals, areas of concern, and where you are in your journey. From there, we’ll recommend the right treatment approach and build a personalized plan designed around your body, comfort level, and timeline.

02
Personalized Plan

Together, we’ll build a treatment plan tailored to your hair, skin, transition goals, and timeline. Whether you’re preparing for surgery, addressing facial hair, or working toward long-term reduction, every plan is paced around what feels right for you.

03
Treatment Sessions

Sessions are calibrated to your goals. Whether laser hair removal, electrolysis, or a combination, treatments are delivered with precision, comfort, and discretion. Most sessions take 15 to 60 minutes.

04
After Your Session

The treated area(s) may feel a bit warmer and sometimes slightly red for a few hours up to a day or two. Hair shedding will happen after 1 to 3 weeks, so we recommend exfoliating weekly, shaving in between sessions, and keeping your skin moisturized.

Guidance from the
Luma Team.

Most Luma clients benefit from a combination of both. Laser hair removal helps reduce bulk growth more efficiently, while electrolysis permanently removes remaining hairs with precision. During your consultation, we’ll help determine the best approach based on your skin type, hair type, goals, and timeline.

Hair removal is a process, and every person’s journey is different. The number of sessions depends on the treatment area, hair density, hormones, and whether laser, electrolysis, or both are being used. We’ll create a personalized plan designed around realistic, long-term results.

Yes. At Luma Laser & Electrolysis, we use advanced technology that allows us to safely and effectively treat a wide range of skin tones and hair types.

Yes. We provide electrolysis and laser hair removal for surgical preparation, including vaginoplasty and phalloplasty preparation. Because every surgeon has different requirements, we always recommend confirming timelines and clearance expectations directly with your surgical team.

Starting early is important, especially for surgical preparation. Because permanent hair removal requires multiple sessions spaced over time, many clients begin treatment several months to more than a year before surgery depending on their surgeon’s requirements and treatment area.

Absolutely. There is no “right” timeline for gender affirming care. Some clients begin treatment before hormones or surgery, while others begin later in their journey. We meet clients where they are.

We commonly treat facial hair, beard growth, neck, chest, abdomen, bikini area, genital areas for surgical preparation, arms, legs, and back. Every treatment plan is personalized to the client’s goals.

Hormone therapy can change hair texture and growth patterns, but it does not typically eliminate existing hair completely. Many clients combine hormone therapy with laser hair removal and electrolysis for longer-term reduction and permanent removal.

Treatment comfort varies from person to person and depends on the area being treated. Our team prioritizes your comfort throughout the process and will walk you through what to expect before treatment begins.

Creating a safe, welcoming, and affirming environment is one of the most important parts of what we do. We want every client to feel seen, respected, and supported from consultation through treatment.

Community we stand with.

We believe affirming care extends beyond our treatment rooms. This is a collection of trusted local organizations, resources, businesses, and community spaces helping make Lancaster County a safer, more inclusive, and more supportive place for LGBTQIA+ community members. These are people and spaces we value and are proud to share as resources for connection, advocacy, support, and community.
